Campus Crusade for Christ
The infant branch of a worldwide Christian evangelical organization, started by the late Bill Bright, St. Johns River Community College's Campus Crusade for Christ is a college ministry that seeks to establish Jesus Christ as spiritual head of its school.
Meeting day and time: The current meeting day and time for Campus Crusade for Christ is each Thursday, with two consecutive meeting times of 11:00 a.m, and 12:00 p.m.
Content of meeting: The content of each meeting consists of a four part regimen. It is opened with a prayer, followed by a 5 minutes worship led by of the club member then a discussion of current club news and events, after which a bible lesson is volunteered by a club member, of their discretion. Thus, just as with the opening, each meeting is also closed with a prayer.
Club Agenda- Campus Crusade’s agenda is indeed Christian, in that it seeks to create a social habitat for both newborn and growing Christian youths alike. It is the hope of each heart within the club, that this, now relatively small (though growing) club, would quickly develop into a much larger outreach, perhaps even extending from SJRCC, and into the surrounding Orange Park community itself.
Realization- The school organization holds the hope that it might come to instill within the Christian youth of St. Johns, a sense of fellowship amongst their Christian brethren, as well as discipleship, and hope for the future, In Christ Jesus.
Extra Curricular Activities- A number of extra-curricular activities are being planned for SJRCC’S Campus Crusade for Christ, which include such charitable events as a visit to elderly patients of Orange Park’s Moosehaven, a school worship event, a small, christian toy giveway for young children, a Blood Drive, as well as a joint-endeavor with the Salvation army and Blessed Seed Christian Outreach Ministry. Though the aforementioned events have yet to be carried out by Campus Crusade, the club just recently hosted a Bake Sale, as to raise funds for T-shirts.
Prayer Box- At the request of St. John’s activity coordinator, Campus Crusade for Christ has heartfully established a wooden prayer box, which it has set at the center of the schools activity and social center. By placing small, prayer request slips beside the box, the club enables anyone on campus to place a prayer request of choice, for a friend, a loved one, or themselves within the box. Thus, it is in the club’s interest, that at the close of each meeting, a deposited prayer slip is gathered from the prayer box, and is first prayed for by the group as a whole, before being taken home by an individual member for further prayer. It is through this process, that Campus Crusade for Christ hopes to help further God’s work at St. Johns.
Through sincere communion with God, Campus Crusade for Christ seeks to ensure God’s blessings upon SJRCC, both strengthening the faith of fellow Christians, as well as rescuing those that are currently lost.
