The True Cost of Spiritual Compromise
Aaron should have made it clear that it was God the Almighty that delivered them from the hands of Pharaoh not a man made god. As a result of Aaron’s compromised, God became so angry that Moses had to beg HIM not to destroy all the people. However 3000 persons lost their lives in that sinful and shameful day.
There is another story in the Bible about compromise in book 1 Samuel chapter 15, it relates to the King Saul's disobedience by not executing fully God's instructions. King Saul spared the life of the Amalekites' king and he spared the fat calves, cattle and everything that looks good and valuable. Over King Saul compromise, he lost his kingdom over Israel and his heirs will never sit on the throne again and God had rejected him.
2 kings chapter 5 relates the story of Guehazi, the prophet Elisha's servant. Guehazi compromised his spiritual legacy, his ministry, his talent just like many church and religious leaders are doing today by putting a price on everything from holy water to miraculous handkerchief. Just like Gehazi, they are led not by the spirit of God but by the spirit of greed and deception. Guehazi, instead on focusing on the things of God and his spiritual heritage he deliberately look for financial gains. He lied so he can get gifts and money from Nahaman whom had just been healed by the prophet from leprosy. And the prophet Elisha refused to take any gift from him. It is sad to see that Guehazi lost all his potential; he could have been a great prophet just like his mentor was.
As Christian’s we ought to stand firm on the word of God because compromising will not only delay the promises but is certain to also reduce the surprises of God.
May God bless you and have a blessed day.
